I created an account on this site just to try to help you with some information.

* Chocolate begins to melt at 86*F
* Chocolate should NEVER get over 105*F
* ALWAYS nuke for only 15 second intervals, never longer
* Stirring is as important as nuking, if not more
* Never nuke in a glass bowl- it retains heat. Plastic only
* You can melt, with sufficient stirring 5lbs in 5 cycles of 15 seconds (may be a tiny bit more or less depending on your microwave)
* When chocolate gets only a bit over 105*F it begins to seize, so you try to nuke it more, but by then it's too late and the choc is shot. Believe me, I know from past experience. Save your money and try it this way!

Also, IMHO Wilton Candy melts can be temperamental and I think they don't taste very good. Mercken's taste great and they are very smooth and creamy.

Please let me know your results. I am hopeful I have helped.

I have read on numerous sites to not use plastic container but to use the ceramic melting bowls? My first attempt at first I thought was a complete failure but I added Crisco to the Wilton Candy Coatings and it thinned a decent amount?

Thanks,

Hi, I have use all types of chocolate, semi sweet morsels for cc cookie, Hershel's candy bar, but after u melt it,badd a teaspoon of Cisco lard to make it softer, and sometimes I add 2 teaspoons , depends on how chocolate i put in crock or melter. They say use a chocolate you like, it taste the same once melted even with a tat of crisco,,, kisses, crunch bars, any candy works, I have try'd them all, CRISCO is the secret ,Also some use heavy whipping cream, like a ganache not sure i spelled it right!
